Sea Mills Community Garden

Our patch is behind the garages above Sylvan Way, very near the Sylvan Way/Shirehampton Road traffic lights. We are creating a garden for growing food, with a large communal area with easy access raised beds and an orchard, small individual plots and a nature area.

A bit about us….

We are a group of keen gardeners and helpers working to transform a patch of disused allotments above Sylvan Way. We aim to grow food together in a nature friendly way, and to provide a natural space to enjoy for our community. We really love our wild neighbours, and take care to leave lots of space for nature. We are open for volunteering and visits on Wednesday and Thursday afternoons from 1-4pm. We hope all ages and abilities can get involved with the garden tasks, and if you come along you are welcome to take a share of the produce that we pick that day. We always leave plenty of time for chat, so bring along a drink and join in. Occasionally we might be shut for poor weather or lack of volunteer leaders so do check if it's the first time you are coming.

We love visitors when we are open who just want to enjoy the surroundings and the chat. All ages are welcome to these sessions and we are always very happy to get out toys for our digging bed and mud kitchen. Our young families session on a Monday mornings is lots of fun and very popular, and currently has a waiting list. We put on regular events throughout the year including children's craft activities, the occasional weekend work party and the annual harvest lunch. Join our email mailing list or follow us on Facebook to find out our latest news.

Find us…

Find us up the lane between 43 and 45 Sylvan Way. We ask car users to park on Sylvan Way, walk up the lane, turn left at the top and you will see us after a few metres behind some garages. However for those with access needs we have a large parking space by our gate suitable for disabled users, and there is a wide path to the main area to the garden suitable for wheelchairs and motability scooters. We do have access to toilets in Highgrove Church, adjacent to our garden, but there is no disabled access at present to these.
