We are sorry to inform you that the café will be closed not only for the upcoming bank holiday (5th May 2025), but also on the following day (6th May 2025), to allow customers, volunteers, and staff to attend the thanksgiving service for our dear Rachel.

Our friend and former manager, Rachel Roberts, passed away peacefully in April, surrounded by her family, after being diagnosed with incurable cancer early last year. Rachel was a long-standing member of the Sea Mills community and generously gave her time to various local projects over the years. She loved her community—especially the volunteers and customers here at the café—and we will miss her deeply. Our love and prayers go out to Rachel’s family at this sad time. x

Rachel's Thanksgiving service will be at Woodlands Church in Clifton on Tuesday 6th of May, at 11.15am. Doors will be open from 10.45am.

Rachel requested that in lieu of traditional flower arrangements, donations be made to St Peter's Hospice in her memory, to honour the wonderful care she received from them in the last weeks of her life.

During the service there will be a chance to lay a flower on the coffin. If you would like to join us in this, we would invite attendees to bring one flower stem of their choosing. If you need inspiration for what flower to bring, some of Rachel's favourites were daffodils, freesias, lisianthus, tulips, lily of the valley, and irises.

Rachel wanted everyone to dress colourfully, but most importantly in whatever you would feel most comfortable in- please don't feel required to wear black, or a formal suit, but if that's what you would like to wear, that's fine too!

The service will be live streamed and recorded for those who are unable to attend but would still like to be part of this special good bye to Rachel. Please contact Mike, Rosie or Izzy for more details.

Refreshments will be available in the foyer after the service.

Attendance of the committal and wake are by invitation only, we thank you for your understanding of this. We will be reaching out personally with invitation to the wake.
